Learn about e-liquid concentrates

Yes, lots of experienced vapers make their own DIY e-liquids using their favourite e-liquid flavour concentrates. You can mix different flavours and create your own custom blends of VG, PG and nicotine and enjoy bespoke e-liquid combinations.

Be aware that mixing your own DIY e-liquids is only recommended for very experienced vapers. You will need to accurately calculate the exact ratios of each ingredient, including VG and PG, understand what e-liquid viscosity different ratios will produce, and which coils and devices will be needed to handle that ratio.

E-liquid concentrates use a variety of tried and tested food-grade ingredients to produce authentic flavours that closely resemble a wide variety of fruits, desserts, drinks and more. This can include a mix of natural and artificial flavourings, with just a few examples including triacetin, ethyl alcohol, water, polysorbate 20, vitamin E and many, many more.

They are typically absorbed into a monopropylene glycol (PG) carrier base which can then be mixed with other ingredients like vegetable glycerine to produce various viscosities of e-liquids with various strengths of nicotine.

Vape flavour concentrates are added to e-liquids to create incredible flavours, producing hundreds of delicious tastes that make vaping a more palatable alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes to help smokers make the switch.

Using a combination of natural and artificial flavourings, vape brands can create unique and delicious e-liquid flavours and experienced vapers who make their own DIY e-liquids can create their own custom blends at home.

There are many different kinds of e-liquids, which have different viscosities, different nicotine content and different kinds of nicotine.

Firstly, e-liquids differ based on the ratio of vegetable glycerine VG and PG monopropylene glycol they contain. Most e-liquids, especially 10ml’s containing nicotine, feature a ratio of 50/50 VG/PG producing a relatively thin liquid. This means it can be used in lower powered devices with higher resistance coils such as vape pods, vape pens and disposable vapes.

E-liquids can also have thicker consistencies by increasing the ratio of vegetable glycerine (VG) to PG. This is commonly used for zero nicotine shortfill e-liquids, as the VG can produce denser vapour clouds that are ideal for performing vape tricks.

Another way that e-liquids differ is their nicotine content. E-liquids can contain zero nicotine, freebase nicotine, salt nicotine or a hybrid combination of both. Though freebase e-liquids are the most common kind in the UK providing a harsher throat hit that resembles smoking a tobacco cigarette, salt nicotine e-liquids (aka nic salts) are also growing in popularity thanks to their use in ever popular disposable vapes. They have a much smoother throat hit whilst providing a form of nicotine that is more easily absorbed by the body.

No, it is not recommended and you should not vape pure flavour concentrates unless they have been diluted into a PG/VG base. Vaping pure e-liquid concentrates will likely have an incredibly strong flavour that is not pleasant, and without being diluted with VG or sufficient amount of PG, the concentrate may not vapourise effectively and the liquid may scald your throat.

Make sure you dilute your concentrates into a VG and PG solution and ensure you know what ratio is required before attempting to mix and vape your own DIY e-liquids. Only experienced vapers should attempt to mix their own liquids for this reason.

Yes, e-liquid concentrates are relatively cheap and typically cost anywhere between £30 – £60 per litre depending on the flavourings used, the quality, the quantity ordered and the country they are sourced from.

You can purchase vape concentrates from Zinwi in 5 litre containers or you can order 10ml concentrate samples so you can perform your own in house-testing before committing to a flavour.

In most cases, 100mls and 10mls will use the same flavourings however the ratio of VG and PG and the  amount of nicotine in 10mls compared to 100mls will differ.

10mls will likely need a different amount of flavour concentrate to mask the notable taste of the nicotine often used in 10ml vape liquids. 10mls will also contain less vegetable glycerin (VG) to create a thinner e-liquid that can work with the coils and power outputs of smaller devices like vape pens, pods and cig-a-likes.

Whereas 100mls and other shortfill sizes can be blended with higher ratios of VG and contain zero nicotine that cna be used with sub ohm coils and high wattage vape mods and kits, which also means 100mls can use less e-liquid concentrate to produce the same great flavours.

No, e-liquid concentrates do not containing nicotine. They are an ingredient used in the manufacturing process of e-liquids, and must be diluted into a carrier oil such as VG or PG and freebase or salt nicotine can then be added separately to the desired strength.

VG/PG refers to the ratio of vegetable glycerine to propylene glycol used in e-liquids. This ratio can affect the viscosity of the liquid, the volume of the vapour clouds produced, the intensity of the throat hit, and how well the liquid carries flavour.

Most e-liquids contain a 50/50 blend of VG and PG which works well with most coils and at lower wattages. Thicker e-liquids like shortfills tend to have a 70/30 blend of VG/PG which produces thicker vapour clouds, ideal for vape tricks.

The best e-liquid flavours will depend on individual preferences, however the best vape liquids will provide great flavours, are tested by independent laboratories for safety and compliance,
